Sharks Back On The Ice!

Get the low down here.....

The public had a rare chance to watch pro hockey players in a more casual setting this weekend in San Jose, California as the Sharks NHL hockey team took to the ice at their annual training camp. In a casual, walk by the players as they mill around the arena between sets forum, fans got a sneak peak (free of charge) of the season to come.

Surly, aka, number 22, defenseman Scott Hannan, was in fine form. Strong, fluid, a couple of years of pro hockey under his belt, Hannan was the last to sign back on with the Sharks and appears to have been worth every penny they paid. His skating is stronger than ever and his judgement, more mature. Even in practice, Hannan's characteristic hang back, access and then fight the battles that need fighting style was ever evident among the too eager to impress players.

One who didn't need to impress -- his publicity and punches proceed him --- was Colorado import Scott Parker, number 27. The Sharks aquired Parker for his 'muscle'. Even in practice it looks like Parker will be spending a lot of time in the penalty box and throwing down gloves.

Goalies Toskala and Nabokov were both limber and sure handed, giving fans assurance that the goals will be well protected this season.

Crowd pleaser Mike Ricci was not at practice; still recovering from back surgery but all reports indicate that he will be back in teal and black this coming week.
