And To the Republic....

For those of you living in vacuums, we wanted you all to know that there is a historic recall election going on in California. Truly. This momentous political event means that people like Gary Coleman are now officially running for governor.
Really.
When the vast majority of Americans were asked what kind of country, politically speaking, they live in, an overwhelming percentage replied, "A Democracy."
Beep. Wrong.
We live, for you non Poly Sci majors, in a Republic. As in the Pledge of allegiance, "And to the Republic for which it stands..."
So California, which isn't known for its staid stability, is also the fifth largest economy in the world. That sort of means that we need somebody, well, qualified to run the show. Clearly, the current regime isn't doing such a hot job. The good news is that dynamics of our current government allow us to change our mind. That's defiantly a plus. Now then, could we all take a step back as we view the candidates and learn from the past?
You know what we are getting at. We have just two words for California voters as they take heed: Ronald Regan.
