All New Installment!
April 29th, 2004
The Scottish Geisha's birthday was fast approaching. The
fact that Virginia Bob was making an impromptu trip to the Bay Area
that coincided with her big day seemed to be standard operating procedure.
"Let's do Paris," The Scottish Geisha remarked while on the
phone to God knows whom.
"I think we should try that devine new little bistro on the Left
Bank," she was continuing while spreading travel pamphlets on her
desk.
We hated to destroy the thought of this little celebratory bash but,
being who we were, we couldn't help ourselves. After she hung up, we
gently remarked that the Stanley Cup Play-Offs might well continue,
with the Sharks in the middle of it, right up to and through her birthday.
This information was met with a viscious silence. Then, a sigh.
Very soon, The Scottish Geisha was back on the phone.
"No, no, I couldn't possibly," she was saying as she briskly
threw brochures into the trash. "How could I leave him at a time
like this?" she added.
We wondered who the lucky guy was.
"Don't even start with me," she warned as she hung up the
phone. "How could I possibly desert Surly in his time of need?
He's just a baby, really. This is his first time. In the play-offs I
mean," she added hastily, lest we jump on her comment and turn
it into something hilarious.
"Besides," she added with dramatic relish, "Evil Dennis
is missing in action."
Evil Dennis? The undead executive slithering his way through Transylvania?
"You people are so...bourgeois," she retorted, clearly unamused.
That point was a given but we wanted to know what The Scottish Geisha
had up her sleeve.
"I don't have time for this," she declared."Poor Surly
is braving the toughest challenges of his career, Pitney and Shea are
a heartbeat way from being puppy indicted and Evil Dennis is lost, last
spotted somewhere east of Dracula's castle and you people make light?"
We said we were sorry, truly we were. But we did have to wonder, however,
did The Scottish Geisha think Evil Dennis in any mortal danger?
"Don't be native," she replied. "Even if there is something
to the legends, the myths, you all know of Evil Dennis."
It was true, from what we had heard tell, demons of all kind would have
much to fear. If even a small portion of the rumors were true, Dracula
himself would be tempted to run straight into broad daylight.
"Bran Stoker was probably right you know," the Scottish Geisha
was saying. "The Undead can walk the light of day though their
powers are greatly diminished."
We wondered if she was referring to vampires or Evil Dennis at this
point.
"Does it matter?" The Scottish Geisha replied with a rare
smile.
