All New
Installment! March 7th, 2004
The Scottish Geisha spent the day packing.
"I need to worry about winterizing for Germany but I think by the
time I get to Paris, all should clear up," she said to no one in
particular.
Thank goodness that pastels were back in fashion for spring.
Or so we have heard.
"These trips are SUCH a bother," The Scottish Geisha said testily.
Yes, we could see how traveling to what amounted to around the world in
three plus weeks would be such a bother.
"You people don't get it," she said. "There is the time
away from home and office to consider. The wear and tear on the road.
And the endless problems associated with changing cultures and clothing."
Ah, so that was it. We finally got it. Getting to travel around the world
wasn't the problem, it was color coordinating one's wardrobe that was
such a trial.
Of course, why didn't WE think of that? We mean, how difficult it must
be to switch from the garish plaids of Germany and Austria to the sleek
sophistication of France? How challenging to go from the understated chic
of Italy to the sturdy garb of say, a Finland or Sweden? And don't even
get us started about the fashion horrors of Eastern Europe or the minute
by minute changes required in a trend obsessed Japan. To say nothing of
the fusion mentality required for a modern Hong Kong.
"You people are being sarcastic," The Scottish Geisha all but
snapped. "This is serious," she added trying without success
to shut her bulging suitcase.
Of course it was.
Which is precisely why we decided to save the comments about make-up and
hair for the trip to the airport.
