Alll New Installment! May 10th, 2004“There is more to hockey,” The Scottish Geisha
announced with relish, "Than just winning."
We said nothing, knowing that the Sharks overtime loss against Calgary still rankled. “We all need to focus,” she continued, "On the positive here. After all, it is only the first of perhaps seven games. And the team has come so far." It was true. The Sharks had never come this far in Franchise history. We wanted to see them go all the way but The Scottish Geisha's generous attitude toward their already outstanding accomplishments this season was heartwarming. "Really, little Surly has already given me a birthday to remember," The Scottish Geisha was saying. "He has come so far, with such grace and character, I cannot help but be proud." We figured that The Scottish Geisha, center of her own universe, would take Scott Hannan's excellence on the ice personally. "Truly, if The Sharks go no further in the play-offs I will be content," she sighed. "Though from a business perspective it would be terrific for the team to continue." We had to agree, winning was always good for business, especially in Silicon Valley where bandwagon jumpers were the norm, not the exception "Did you all hear that annoying sports announcer recently?" The Scottish Geisha asked to no one in particular and as usual, somewhere out in left field. We weren't sure what she was talking about. "That strange man with the dreadful wardrobe and even worse taste in hair cuts remarked during a game on TV that Surly had some sort of...cult following in the Bay Area and that web sites wrote all about him." We refrained from commenting. "Now isn't that," The Scottish Geisha continued, almost to herself. "The oddest thing you have ever heard of?"
