Where Athletic Support Comes In Many Shapes and Sizes

Shark's NHL Defenseman, #22 Scott Hannan

Sign Surly Sign!!

As The Scottish Geisha’s return date draws near, Thelastlaugh staff is becoming increasingly agitated. How were we to face The Scottish Geisha knowing that Surly’s 2003-2004 contract with the Shark’s had not yet been signed?
“Every single player save for Surly has signed….how is she going to take this?” MVP asked plaintively the other morning.
We stared at our collective cups of increasingly cold coffee. Oh yes, we knew how she was going to take this.
Badly.
At best.
“Maybe she will be in a such a fine mood after Bali that the news bother her that much,” Sophia said hopefully.
Ha. We know better.
What could be the hold up? Surly is young, talented, very much, as The Scottish Geisha likes to point out, in his prime. His intrinsic value to the Sharks cannot be over estimated. He isn’t a flashy high scorer, or the earth-defying goal tender. Still, he’s out there, defending, night after night, game after game. Stamina, consistency and determination…that’s Surly. A strong block in the Shark’s foundation, the Shark’s would to well to wrap up contract negotiations and ensure that Surly suits up the first day of training. After all, nobody wants a repeat of last season when goalie Nabokov was a virtual sit out due to a contract impasse. Not only is this kind of legal wrangling not good for team moral but the fans, yearning for closure, feel a sense of loss and uncertainty when they should be focusing on the sheer delight of the game and getting caught up in the excitement of a new season.
So we have to extend a genuine request to the team of executives who negotiate player contacts.
Do you guys think you could wrap up Surly’s contract anytime soon? The next week would be really good for us. Anytime before The Scottish Geisha’s plane hits the tarmac at SFO, would in fact, be swell timing.
Not that we are pushing or anything, but it would be nice to finish up the summer in relative calm.
